If the power were to go out, you certainly wouldn’t want to be left in the dark! So, you will want to ensure that you are equipped with proper light sources. Flashlights are always ideal to have on hand. In addition, don’t forget the batteries! Also, candles will burn for hours and provide you with light as needed, so don’t forget the lighters and matches too! You can also opt for some kerosene lanterns. Also, if you have a fireplace in your home, make sure you stockpile some wood! Or, if you really want to ensure you have electricity, invest in a generator.

  • Medical Necessities

There is nothing worse than getting hurt and not being able to treat your wound. Therefore, you will want to prepare a medical emergency kit! Comprise yours with bandages, wraps, Neosporin, rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, gloves, and hydrogen peroxide. This way, you can ensure that your wounds are tended to as necessary.

  • Food

Everyone needs to eat. So, having non-perishable food available is a must! Canned foods are a wonderful option to have on hand, such as fruits, vegetables, and soups. In addition, consider foods such as chips, crackers, granola bars, nuts, and dried fruits. When stocking up on your foods, it’s best to choose ones that have a long shelf life. Also, know that juice boxes pose as great drink options, and evaporated milk can even be used for eating cereal!

Being prepared for an emergency is certainly of importance! These are just a few items that you should keep in your own home to have you prepared for any natural disasters.
