Clear Commonly Used Spaces
We all have those spaces that are high traffic-zones throughout our homes. The most common, frequently used spaces are tables and countertops. By clearing these surfaces off, and keeping them available, you avoid building up larger, more difficult mess loads. Dedicating drawers, cupboards, and closets to better organize your items is ideal! After all, if every item has its own spot, there will be no need to toss them among your tables and countertops. So, ensure that you have a “home” for each item, so that your surfaces can be dedicated to showcasing elements of décor, instead of clutter.
Keep Your Floors Open
In your home, where there isn’t furniture or décor, you have a path to travel. Any detours or delays within your walking space, is unnecessary time you are spending. Keep your floors clean and litter free and your home will look and feel much more organized. When designing your home, it’s important to keep your walkways open and flowing, for a welcoming and decluttered appearances. As previously mentioned, ensure that each item has its own spot, such as shoes being placed in closets, or among a shoe rack, so that your floors and surfaces can remain decluttered!
Prepare for the Next Day
Have you ever had those mornings where you wake up late, scramble to remember every item you will need for your day, and then must get ready and make your way out the door? As you race to be ready for the day, and scramble for those last few items, you are essentially making a mess, as you are sure to be tossing items around and leaving them out among your surfaces. To avoid clutter, all you must do is prepare yourself for the next day! So, before you make your way to bed, consider creating an organized armoire or make use of your dresser tops with areas for you to place your clothes that you plan to wear the next day, along with shoes, accessories, purses and wallets, so that you are all set to go.
Your home is a place where you can relax. But, if you are faced with clutter, your peace of mind is sure to be hindered. However, with these tips, you can go about staying organized with ease!

Create Your Layout
Developing a layout is the first step you will want to take when designing your outdoor kitchen. The available space you have to create your kitchen, as well as your surroundings, such as the landscaping, must be taken into consideration. Not only will the landscaping and your surroundings affect building zones, but it will also help influence your designs. Your space should be ample enough for you to sit and enjoy your company, as well as move with ease as you cook. After all, a flowing space is a happy space!
Utilize Additional Space
An outdoor culinary workspace serves as an extension to your overall living space. You will have more room to cook and prepare food, as well as entertain your guests. You can make the most of your additional space by adding shaded spots, comfortable sitting areas, along with a fire pit for those chilly nights, or a heater for those cooler days. This will assist you with bringing the comfort of home to your newly cultivated outdoor space.
Select Appliances
As with any kitchen, indoors or out, appliances will be needed! After all, it certainly wouldn’t be an outdoor kitchen without the actual kitchen. When crafting your space, be sure to consider what appliances you will need to create your area to be fitting to your lifestyle. If you are partial to grilling through the summer, perhaps a nice grill with all the works would be best. Or, if you are more into vegetables and fruits, a sink would do wonders for washing your produce and even your hands after handling raw meat. You can create your outdoor kitchen to satisfy every one of your needs with the right appliances!
An outdoor kitchen is a wonderful way for you to add a dash of functionality and design to your home! These are just a few tips to assist you with designing yours.

Window treatments are a great source for accentuating the beautiful light that will shine its way into your home. With the right window treatments, you not only have the opportunity to hide the light or allow it to showcase through your windows, but also add some pizzazz to your space!
With many window treatments to choose from, are you aware of which ones would be the best fit for your own home?
We are honored with the opportunity to provide inspiration for a home’s interior design! That’s why, here at White Oak Interiors, as Chicago interior designers, we have gathered some tips to assist you in choosing the perfect window treatments for you home. Are you ready to discover some trendy window treatment options? If so, be sure to continue reading:
Draperies
When tall windows are presented, you can invest in floor-to-ceiling draperies to adorn them. These are especially ideal for bedrooms, or living rooms with high ceilings. Offering light and privacy, a window of fabric will appear as an additional wall of décor within your space. When installing your drapery rod, you have the option of choosing to place it among the wall, or the ceiling, depending on what is most fitting for the style that you would like to showcase.
Semi-sheer
For a common space within your home, such as a living room, consider semi-sheer fabric window treatments! Seeing as your common room won’t require much privacy to the outside world, you can allow an abundance of natural light to shine through, brightening your space, while still providing subtle privacy, with the use of semi-sheer window treatments. However, you can choose a thicker fabric, if you wish to not have as much light shine through, as a way to add a bit more privacy.
Blackout
If you would rather keep the light entirely out of your space when your window treatments are being utilized, you can opt for blackout draperies! Dense fabric that light can’t penetrate through is used to create a “blackout” effect, ensuring that your home can stay as dark as you would like it to. This is especially ideal for bedrooms, as they will allow you to get a great night’s sleep in the dark!
Shades
Some rooms within your home will require a great deal of privacy, such as your bathrooms. So, know that shades are a wonderful way to ensure that you are completely hidden from the outside world, while still allowing light to filter through. Roller, Roman, cord-free, and remote-control shades are all very trendy and incredibly popular options for adding some pizzazz and functionality to your space! For example, when it comes to functionality, know that remote control operated draperies and blinds will present you with a great deal of ease when it comes to utilizing them. In addition, cordless and remote control options are incredibly ideal for child safety throughout your home, if you have little ones running around!
With the right window treatments, you can jazz up your space, as well as have form and functionality! These are just a few of the lovely window treatments that you can choose for your home.
