We completed a wonderful transformation from standard golden oak cabinets and an ordinary 80’s look to a sophisticated sleek contemporary design for a kitchen in Algonquin, Illinois
Countertops. Your surfaces will be the base of your kitchen, and will pose as the key detail that will tie the look of your entire space together. For a professional-grade kitchen, you should consider gorgeous, natural stone, such as quartzite, which is a truly timeless material that will leave a long-lasting impression within your space.
This large, beautiful home in West Dundee, Illinois was in need of a totally new kitchen! The original kitchen had golden oak cabinets, a peninsula between the kitchen and dining area, and the cook top in the island. We brought this kitchen out of the 80’s and created a warm and inviting French Country Kitchen for a family home in West Dundee, Illinois.
Sinks. When choosing a sink, you will want to create a look of diversity. After all, if everything matches perfectly, it can create a lackluster appearance within your kitchen. Therefore, consider stepping outside the box. Utilizing an old-style farmhouse bowl or a hammered-metal prep sink would be ideal, as they will offer a pop of flair within your kitchen.
The butler’s pantry cabinets in this home Cary, Illinois adds such character to the space. It is complete with a beverage refrigerator, wine rack, glass door cabinets, plenty of storage, and a working space.
Cabinets. Without cabinets, your kitchen would certainly be missing a powerful aspect of décor! Break away from the solid white cabinets and instead opt for transparent glass doors. Or, consider the use of wire-mesh or metal doors, for a more industrial, yet flashy appearance.
A custom new home build in Carpentersville, Illinois has clean lines and efficient style, making it warm and inviting! A shaker style select alder cabinet with a rich chocolate stain for the perimeter cabinets, and a cream colored painted finish for the maple painted cabinets, was selected. In addition, there are stained maple floors throughout.
Lighting. To add the right ambience to your kitchen, lighting is key! Hanging lights are ideal, as they will add some pizzazz to the room, and act as a unique focal point. Wire or metal would be great materials to utilize, along with dimmer switches, to provide just the right amount of light that is preferred. Also, some additional wall sconces would complement the hanging fixtures beautifully. In addition, don’t forget to incorporate under cabinet lighting, ambient, and accent lights.
Details. In addition, little details can bring a room to life! Your backsplash, lighting, and flooring will all work together to create your beautiful space. Each little detail takes time to create, so give yourself an ample amount of renovation time to complete your space. It is ideal to have all of your materials confirmed at the warehouse before beginning your renovations.
Your professional-grade kitchen will surely be a popular space within your home! These are just a few ways in which you can design yours. If you are interested in working with a Carpentersville, Illinois interior designer, please feel free to get in touch with White Oak Interiors

Semisheer. For a common space within your home, such as a living room, consider semisheer fabric window treatments. Seeing as your common room won’t require much privacy to the outside world, you can allow an abundance of natural light to shine through, brightening your space, while still providing subtle privacy. However, you can choose a thicker fabric, if you wish to not have as much light shine through and to add a bit more privacy.

Blackout curtains. If you would rather keep the light entirely out of your space when your window treatments are being utilized, you can opt for blackout curtains. Dense fabric that light can’t penetrate through is used to create blackout curtains, ensuring that your home can stay as dark as you would like it to. These are especially useful in bedrooms, allowing you to get a great night’s sleep in the dark.

When designing your home, you are likely to create a focal point for your space.
Bringing the eyes to a focal point, such as a light fixture, color, architectural feature, or texture, creates an intriguing space that provides a visually pleasing area within your home. Choosing the right focal point can help you set the ambiance and tone for your space.
Creating an intriguing space is one way to keep your home interesting and your guests visually stimulated. Do you know how to make a unique focal point within your home?
With many focal points available to be created, you may be at a loss as to what to choose for yours. That’s why, here at White Oak Interiors, as an interior designer in Chicago, Illinois and surrounding areas, we have put together a few tips to help you design a unique focal point for your space. If you want your space to fascinate you and your guests, be sure to keep reading to become inspired:
A breathtaking view. One way to ensure that your guests will be stopped in their tracks is to wow them with a breathtaking view. If your home features a stunning view, you can use it to your advantage. Using your home’s architecture to emphasize your view will allow you to make it appear grand. Simple and minimalist furniture will assist you in bringing attention to your view, as the focal point. Use window treatments to draw the eyes to the outdoors, as well as accentuate the beauty presented right through your windows.
Lovely artwork. The world is filled with incredible artwork. When you have a favorite piece of work that you would like displayed within your home, you can use it as a focal point. It’s important to consider the artwork’s size and tone before you place it, as it will set the mood for your room and determine the best place for it to be displayed. Also, allow your artwork to be the center of attention, rather than placing it among other pieces, or in an area that would appear cluttered.
A striking pattern. Patterns serve as a charming way to make items more appealing and intriguing. If your home is suffering from a lack of architectural features, you can spice it up with a striking pattern, such as stone or tile, or even fabrics. You can also jazz up your space with patterns among your walls, through paint or wallpaper. The opportunities for using pattered designs are truly endless.
Displaying color and texture. Colors tend to evoke a specific emotion. You can set the mood and create a focal point with a bold pop of color. You can also beat the dull ambiance of narrow hallways with vibrant doors. Determine what mood you want to set within your space, and you can then choose the best color for the job. As an added bonus, you can add studs and other elements to create a texture/color combo for your focal point upon dull doors.
Your home should be a place that you can relax and feel inspired to do your best. Creating a focal point within your home will help provide a fascinating and thought-provoking space. All the right accessories. What you put on your porch is just as important as the color palette and the detail. If you are fond of furniture adorning your front patio, it’s important to ensure you have the right furniture. You can adorn your patio furniture with curtains that provide a gorgeous pop of color. Or, for even more design, you can add a lovely artistic canvas. Hanging above your furniture, you can almost create a second living room. Also, a rug can add a wonderful sense of comfort, especially for those days that you would rather go barefoot.
Give your door a face lift. Your door has likely become so ordinary, that you may not even remember the details until you look. You can draw eyes to your front door with a brand-new coat of paint. Whether you keep the same color or go bold with a new hue that complements your home, you can certainly bring a fresh look to your front porch with a simple coat of paint. Consider red for a welcoming color, or even yellow, to add a bright and cheery ambience.
The details tie it together. There are details that you may not have even considered yet, such as your door knocker or house numbers. These are details that every guest will see when they arrive, and will likely be looking for. You can give them something lively to look at. Replacing your numbers with fresh new ones, possibly in a new style, will help add a new feel to your porch. This is also true with your door knocker, as every guest will see it. These details help to tie the entire style of your front porch together.
Your front porch is not only a comfortable spot for you to enjoy the warm weather this season, but also a way to welcome your guests to your home. These are a few ways in which you can add a fresh new style to your front porch. Here at White Oak Interiors, we want to help you create your ideal style for your home.
